EWMA endorsement programme

Introduction

In response to changes in healthcare models, the aging population, and the increasing demand for elderly care, issues such as postoperative wound infections and hard-to-heal wounds have a significant impact on both patients and the consumption of medical resources.

This course focuses on the physiological and pathological mechanisms of wound healing, cultivating the knowledge and practical skills necessary for the assessment, management, and evaluation of various types of wounds. It emphasizes a holistic approach to care, addressing internal and external factors that may impair wound healing, and uses evidence-based wound care and management strategies. The course also incorporates a shared decision-making model for wound care, educating patients, their families, and healthcare providers.

Through clinical practice, students will gain familiarity with the knowledge and techniques for preventing and managing wounds, thereby enhancing the quality of wound care. Additionally, this course follows the curriculum framework of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 4-6 and has been accredited by the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) for international wound care certification. Students who complete the required coursework, internships, and case analyses, and pass the exams and case evaluations, will be eligible to apply for EWMA’s international wound care certification.
